Volunteering

We are delighted that you are interested in volunteering with us.

We currently have almost 100 volunteers assisting the organisation to rehabilitate and reintegrate offenders back into the community. Having local people invest their time really helps offenders believe they are capable of making positive changes to their circumstances and have a stake in their local community.

Volunteers bring a wealth of skills and experience and make a valuable contribution to our work. Click on these links to read more about people who have volunteered for CGM CRC:

Opportunities

Volunteers fulfil a variety of roles that all have a common goal: to improve offenders’ compliance with their orders and licences and to assist with their successful integration back into local communities.

Volunteers work closely with Cheshire & Greater Manchester CRC’s staff to ensure they support the achievement of goals set out within offenders’ sentence plans.

Some of our volunteers mentor clients on a one-to-one basis, others work on group based activities to help offenders to improve their behaviour and lifestyles. Typically a volunteer may be asked to do any of the following:

  • support and encourage offenders to stick to the terms of their licence or order
  • assist offenders to complete application forms for housing and other agencies
  • encourage and help offenders to set realistic goals and use their time positively
  • encourage self-help and development of offenders’ self esteem
  • help offenders to access local services that enable them to overcome their problems.
